The GIF format is one of the oldest graphic formats used for designing sites having existed since 1989. GIF, short for Graphics Interchange Format. For animating the still images, mostly the GIF file types are used as plug-ins are not required for it. By using the new features of Adobe Photoshop, it’s quite fast and simple to make an animated GIF.
How to Create Animated GIF using Photoshop

Set up your layers
The first step in creating any animation in Photoshop is to build a layered Photoshop file with all the elements you plan to animate.
Create Animation Frames with Layer Visibility
Chose Windows > Animation to show Photoshop’s animation palette. Changing the layer visibility one frame at a time is a classic Photoshop animation technique that covers a wide variety of needs.
Create Animation Frames using Tween
choose “Tween…” from the Animation palette’s pop-out menu. Set how many frames to add, and Photoshop spreads the movement of your layer across those extra frames.
Adjust your Timing
Go back through and adjust the delay for each frame of your animation.
Export the Animated GIF
File > Save For Web & Devices, make sure the image type is set to GIF, save your file.
